چکیده

Atomically precise nanoclusters (NCs) with fascinating physicochemical characteristics different from their nanoparticles (NPs) counterparts have gained increasing attention in diverse fields of applications. The foremost outcome such NC-based applications is leading to transform them into devices. In fact, there are already some reports on the development For instance, NCs exhibit potential solar cells, showing high light-harvesting efficiency comparable traditional semiconductor cells. Further, recent progress characterizing Au films and micro-crystals shows semiconductor-like properties as field effect photoresponse. These successes indicate that metal possess a for application multidisciplinary areas advancing fundamental practical purposes. However, no comprehensive review available highlight advances new applicable devices based noble NCs. Herein, we reviewed this area, including synthesis challenges related NC-sensitized strain sensors, chemo-/biosensors, transistors, floating memory, other Furthermore, future opportunities modifying synthetic methods make NCs, enhancing exploring more alternative semiconductors pointed out. We hope rapidly interest will stimulate research area inspire combined accordingly.

Challenges and Opportunities in GaN and ZnO Devices and Materials

This special issue spawned from mainly the motivation used by the scientific community in regard to potential applications of ZnO to electronic and optoelectronic devices which seemingly are centering about device applications already addressed by GaN to a large extent. The late Dr. Cole W. Litton (Fig. 1) successfully made the case that a small group of experts in both the GaN and ZnO communit...

Graphene Devices, Interconnect and Circuits - Challenges and Opportunities

Graphene has recently emerged as a serious contender for the post Silicon era. Graphene NanoRibbon (GNR) devices have similar performance characteristics as Carbon Nano Tube (CNT) ones. However, lithographic patterning methods applied to graphene avoids the degree of chirality control and alignment issues typical of CNTs. GNR devices and GNR interconnect can be seamlessly obtained by patterning...

Goal-Based Safety Cases for Medical Devices: Opportunities and Challenges

In virtually all safety-critical industries the operators of systems have to demonstrate a systematic and thorough consideration of safety. This is increasingly being done by demonstrating that certain goals have been achieved, rather than by simply following prescriptive standards. Such goalbased safety cases could be a valuable tool for reasoning about safety in healthcare organisations, such...
